NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month started out as a small project by Chris Baty in the San Francisco area back in 1999 that has now become an international movement. The goal is simple - with the month of November, participants are challenged to write a 175 page or 50,000 word novel. It's not about quality but about quantity here and it's a great exercise based around the power of having a deadline.
2009 marked the first year that I made an attempt at writing my own novel in 30 days and thankfully, I made it! It was such an amazing feeling to get past that 50,000 word mark even though my novel is probably worth less than crap, LOL. Moving forward, I'll be hosting all of my annual NaNoWriMo novel attempts here in order to document and progress and hopefully my success as well.
This whole site is supposed to be about my love of writing and all things geeky after all. So NaNoWriMo is exactly the kind of thing that I need to push me into writing again more regularly, especially in terms of my fiction.
